Open Preview See a Problem? Photographs come out best, being remarkably clear considering that they are printed on the text pages and not as plates. The book does not present a detailed political history, but attempts instead to question our usual preconceptions about the relationship of Greece and Rome by offering some grawcia into the many changes that accompanied Greece’s passage into the Roman imperial sphere. Alcock writes well, so those passages aren’t as painful as one might think.

Typographical errors are few though a couple of references to Pausanias seem to be a section out but there are a few further niggling annoyances some so minor as to be not worth mentioning.
