The Last Cato (Catón, #1) by Matilde Asensi
Una obra totalmente recomendable si te gustan los libros de aventuras. The Vatican employs a nun, a member of the Swiss Guard, and an archaeologist to find the cross based on the tattoos found on the dead man. Holy relics are disappearing from sacred spots around the world—and the Vatican will do whatever it takes to stop the thieves f A masterful blend of Christian scholarship and thrilling adventure, The Last Cato is a novel about the race to find the secret location of the Vera Cruz, the True Cross on which Christ was crucified, and the ancient brotherhood sworn to protect it.
It’s a curious thing that the author based this story on The Divine Comedy by Dante more specifically on the Purgatory12 years before Dan Brown did the same this time with the Inferno.
I was concerned that I’d go asebsi all pages matild be disgusted by the ending, as I was recently with Edgar Sawtelle, but that wasn’t the case here. I really like books that cross genres cleverly but this book was a mish mash that was often very jarring!! This is an intelligent, well-researched book and it was a great deal of fun. Thanks for telling us about the problem.
The settings are detailed and richly drawn.

What’s the Name o A diferencia de lo que sucede con Dan Brown, Matilde Asensi se preocupa por desarrollar a sus personajes, cosa que se agradece. Those who are familiar with it will find themselves revisited by overwhelming claustrophobia in places, reliving the Vatican’s removal of any and all air, fresh or otherwise.
The Last Cato also happens to be an intelligent critique of the Roman Curia as well as a lively page turner. If they can survive the Staurofilakes’ tests, they will earn entrance into the Earthly Paradise–and hopefully discover the whereabouts of the missing True Cross for the Vatican.
El Ultimo Caton : Matilde Asensi :
Once in the mode of interpreting Dante as a acton to solving seven deadly puzzles, I found the book to become a bit matllde. Along with a stoic Swiss Army captain and brilliant Coptic Egyptian, the three of them work through linguistic riddles and discover the key to everything is hidden in plain sight – Dante’s The Divine Comedy.
El final me ha gustado, mucho. Salina uncovers the connection between the brotherhood and Dante’s Divine Comedyand races across the globe to Christianity’s ancient capitals. Apr 10, Beth Cato rated it really liked it Shelves: The characters were not internally consistent and thus became caricatures rather than complex human beings struggling with politics, world events and their Christian faith. Recomendo a quem gosta de thriller religioso! It was interesting visiting all sorts of cities in Italy, Greece, Turkey, Israel and Egypt as well as beautiful religious sites in much detail.
But even as a picaresque, I thought it was bad. Una lectura muy recomendada. Misterio, sociedades secretas, una obra de la cultura universal La Divina Comedia como manual para descifrar la clave Oct 19, Paul Pessolano rated it really liked it.
What is with the modern obsession with Dante? Want to Read Currently Reading Read. I thought very much about rating it a three but it does not merit that rating as there is so much that is just a wreck about this book. The Vatican high command clearly riven by some factionalism is ultimk by the rapid progress the nun makes and takes her off the case, only to reassign her when they find that precious relics and crosses related to the prior investigation are disappearing from various churches around the world.

Refresh and try again. The story revolves around the search for the True Cross that Jesus Christ ulltimo crucified on. An academic nun, a archaeologist and a member of the Swiss Guard are put on an important mission to find out why true cross relics are being stolen from both Orthodox and Catholic churches throughout Chrisendom. El final es simplemente excepcional. The author allows the reader to experience a literary game played out with Dante’s Purgatorio as the rule book and travel guide.
The pope himself has ordered Salina, together with a big shot in the Swiss Guard and a world-renowned archaeologist to get to the bottom of the disappearances. I gave this a three star because of a very weak translation. Dec matildd, Jaidee rated it it was ok Shelves: That being said, the book has a comment on the front cover stating: Over the years, fragments of the Cross have passed out of their reach, to churches all over Europe.
