Two Popular Cuban Themes: I would love to be able to play these some day. I’m a beginner and would not qualify myself as a good judge of level of difficulty. They don’t sound impossible, and have the benefit of being on the slower side, but I have no idea what the technical difficulties would be in playing either of these.

What level would these be rated at? We can use Delcamp levels as a common reference. I’ve only heard them so far. It is not really hard, but if you’re playning works from D01 or even D02, cunw should wait a while.

Uh, “wait” isn’t exacly the good word. Do you have any teacher? He might help you to know when you’ll be abe to play it. I think it belongs to D07, cancioon of some right hand difficulties.

I get what you mean on the “wait” part. I do have a teacher, I wanted to have an idea of when it wouldn’t be crazy to bring it up Thanks! These two pieces, by Leo Brouwer, are lovely.

Last edited by KevinCollins on Thu May 06, This should be enough for you to gauge the difficulty. The most difficult part of the piece is probably in measure 6, where you have to stretch your pinky finger to play the 7th fret B while holding the first two fingers on frets 3 and 4.

There are a few other tricky things, but if you can play parittura first page shown in the sample image then you should be able to play the whole piece and cjna Ojos Brujos as well.

I didn’t know you could see it like that. Looks like something I’d be crazy enough to try within the year. It is in the grade 7 Trinity book. The stretch in the 6th measure is probably the most difficult part but you get it eventually. It cancioj takes some practice to get the pizzicato part just right. You need to move the fleshy base of the thumb from the lower strings to the upper ones as you move up and not leave it one place on the bridge.

Try playing scales like this to practice and perfect this technique. You can also use the different areas of the guitar to great effect in this piece from pontecello to tasto. There was some discussion about the fingering and actual notes in the 46th measure on this forum. The Trinity book uses the Max Eschig version I’m learning Cancion de Cuna. It is not really hard, but if you’re playing works from D01 or even D02, you should wait a while.

I do remember getting some pain on my left hand wrist from fretting some strings on the first fret. Last edited by Blondie on Thu Aug 04, One ludicrous statement – no doubt meant to be encouraging but offered with virtually no knowledge of the player’s actual abilityapart from canciob fact he’s a relative beginner – was “you can play these.

Such comments are utterly unhelpful to my mind and turn the whole point of the advisory aspect of this forum on its head. I’ve taught many other instruments in my career and only guitarists seem to be drawn to repertoire that is so far beyond their current capabilities.

parttitura Blondie’s advice is very sound. Remedial training – unlearning bad habits and faulty technique – is not fun and can set you back years. Board index All times are UTC.
