Hang out the bunting and set out all the candles, as August 2nd is the sixth birthday of this blog. To cap it all, this is post number six hundred. A hundred posts a year for six years.
There isn't a great deal to say. I started this blog to learn more about websites and it's helped me to explore different ways of approaching writing regularly. On top of that I've had many experiences worth writing about and I know that there are many still to come.
I hope that I would have read all the books, listened to all the music, and gone to all the places irregardless of this blog. However, if it's got me out of the door when I otherwise wouldn't have then it's also been a major force in my life.
I was on antidepressants when I started this blog. I'm not now and haven't been for a while. I'd only spent a week outside Europe when I started this blog. Now I've been to lots more places. I wish I'd written loads of short stories and code too. I wish. I wish. But there's certainly plenty more to come yet.
I like to chop and change themes. It stems from the uncertainty of how this site should look when I write about so many things. The current choice of Elmastudio's Uku theme provides lots of jumping off points into my existing posts and will help me dive into my long list of posts that I am still to write.
This month should finally see me deliver the long post that I've grumbled about for a while. And I really should share some more recipes and write about some more understated classics… That's what I love about blogging, it doesn't take long to come up with more ideas.
600 not out. See you again soon!
